CPN 2025-2028 Strategic Plan

On behalf of the CPN Executive (“Exec”), I am very pleased to share the news that today, World Physio Day, we are officially launching the CPN 2025-2028 Strategic Plan!
In December 2024, we shared with you the exciting news that after one and a half years of consulting with the CPN members, the Exec identified key themes that will help inform the CPN “operations” and “strategy” for the coming three years. With the offering of critical products (including specifically virtual lectures and workshops) and enhancing communications (including social media & basic website re-development) as the two identified key operational priorities, the work that is ahead of us will be further shaped by two key strategic priorities: amplifying perspectives from equity-denied communities and supporting critical physiotherapy practice. Together, these identified operational and strategic priorities will help us in steering the direction of CPN in the next three years.
As the Exec reflected on the history of CPN during its first 10 years, we were both amazed and challenged by how the original CPN objectives closely mirrored what we have heard from the members during our Strategic Plan consultations. For instance, creating “a more positive, diverse, and inclusive future for the profession” remains relevant today as it was more than a decade ago. The original CPN objectives can be found in the CPN Constitution
The CPN 2025-2028 Strategic Plan focuses the attention of the CPN Executive in the next three years. We will continue creating new opportunities for members to engage in critical issues that are relevant and important to all of us. And as we do so, we will continue to celebrate our history while at the same time opening the doors wide for new or returning members whose experiences and perspectives we will be learning from.
So, what’s next?
With this official launch of the CPN Strategic Plan 2025-2028, the Exec will continue to host cafés and invite members to take part in bringing to life the CPN Operational and Strategic Priorities. Particularly, the cafés in the next six months will be wonderful venues to narrow down specific objectives for these priorities in the next three years. For some, these cafés will continue to be used as important platforms to discuss and plan on how members can best share their work- their “critical product” - to the wider CPN audience and how these amazing ideas can be bridged into daily PT life. Equally important, we see the cafés as critical opportunities for us to engage with members from the equity-denied communities to help CPN re-imagine and re-create safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments so that all of us can continue to learn from their wisdom and experiences.
On top of launching the 3rd CPN book anthology and hosting various virtual cafés, we will also be launching a new lecture/topic discussion series early in 2026. Aligned with the CPN Strategic Plan, the lecture series will feature the works of CPN members globally. More information about these virtual lectures will be shared with you shortly.
As the Exec continues to look forward into the future, we cannot help but imagine how we might share the lessons that we have learned from this Strategic Plan in Guadalajara, Mexico during the 2027 World Physio. But until then, we are rolling up our sleeves to start working. And as we do so, we are also looking forward to learning from and engaging with you! Please look forward to the café dates shortly. And yes, Happy World Physio Day!
