The CPN is 4
The CPN will celebrate its 4th birthday next week.
Two years ago I wrote a blog post celebrating the group's achievements, and it was interesting looking back at it today.
We've continued to grow and make progress, and seem to still have an important role to play in being a positive force for an otherwise physiotherapy.
Here's a brief snapshot of where the CPN is at now:
Our new website has been fully functional for three years now, and it's obviously started to be noticed because we've managed two serious hacking attacks in recent months that threatened to crash the site. Obviously, after the American election, we were going to be next.
The Executive has continued to meet monthly with members spanning 16 time zones and five countries
We have produced our first book, collaborating with 20 CPN members on the most downloaded open source text in the publisher's (Cappelen Damm) history
Following on from that success we've begun work on our second book, to be produced in 2019 focusing on rethinking physiotherapy knowledge
We've held more CPN members meetings in Cape Town, Cardiff and Sydney
And presented our first Focused Symposium at WCPT
We've run our first highly successful day-long CPN Salon in Cape Town
Established a writing collaboration with the Journal of Humanities in Rehabilitation
Spent almost a year planning a new international critical physiotherapy course scheduled to begin in January 2019
Published 578 blog posts, attracting over 220,000 views
Grown our Facebook and Twitter profiles, with over 1,000 people regularly interacting with our social media posts
Grown to over 600 members in 40 countries
As before, there are many people we need to thank for making the last four years such a blast. Most importantly we should acknowledge the fantastic members of the CPN Executive: Jenny Setchell (Australia), Nicky Wilson (UK), Michael Rowe (South Africa), Viviana Silva Guerrero (Colombia/Australia), Jeanette Praestegaard (Denmark) and Tobba Sudmann (Norway), plus our honorary past members Barbara Gibson, Gwyn Owen, Wenche Bjorbaekmo and Simon Kirkegaard. Special thanks goes to Jo Bloggs - our site administrator - who does a huge amount of work to protect our site and manage the day-to-day technical issues.
Happy birthday to everyone connected with the CPN.
