World Physiotherapy is quickly approaching, carrying with it an opportunity to meet like-minded colleagues in person. This will be my first time at World Physio, my first time in Japan, and my first time meeting some of you in person - it’s all very exciting!
We will be gathering as a group the evening of May 28th, right before the conference, to meet and get to know like-minded colleagues. Meeting immediately before the conference means we’ll each have a few more friendly acquaintances over the next three days.
If you are heading to Japan and want to connect with the other Critical Physiotherapy Network attendees, email patty.thille@umanitoba.ca as soon as possible, with CPN in the subject line. I’ll add you into our What’s App group and share details of our gathering.
Please note: if you filled out an earlier form about your interest and availability to meet but haven’t received a personal email from me, please email me directly. I fear there was a problem with the form in some way.
Whether you are attending or not, for all those interested in reading about critical physiotherapy presentations happening at World Physio, click here to read the abstracts shared with us earlier this year.
And on a personal note, I’m looking forward to meeting some of you in person!
Why is everyone still flying?
I’ve asked this question before—most recently in relation to the Environmental Physiotherapy Association Conference.
But it applies just as much to gatherings of the Critical Physiotherapy Network.
How can we meaningfully engage with issues like climate justice, decolonisation, or anti-capitalist critique, while continuing to fly around the world to attend conferences?
Isn’t there a contradiction between the values we promote and the practices we maintain?
